It has been 16 years but it seems as if it was yesterday. Up until that day, most experts in the cricketing world believed that it was impossible for a human being to bowl a delivery that could break the 100 miles per hour barrier. Impossible up until Shoaib Akhtar came into the picture. The incredible speed at which Shoaib bowled his yorkers and bouncers convinced even the sceptics that it was not a matter of it, but when Shoaib will break the 100 mph barrier.
On April 27th in 2002, Pakistan’s fastest bowler made history and became the first cricketer to break the 100 mph barrier, clocking at 100.04mph (161kph) during an ODI against New Zealand at GSL.

Shoaib went on to deliver even faster deliveries.ย The fastest electronically measured speed at 161.3 km/h (100.23 mph) against England on 22 February 2003 in a World Cup match in Cape Town, South Africa.
